JUMP Events

JUMP, the Jewish Urban Meeting Place, is located at 7751 Yonge St., Thornhill, Ontario, a property owned by Mr. Claude Bitton, a real estate developer and property manager. In an attempt to bring young Jewish students and professionals closer to the Jewish religion, JUMP hosts various programs and events at 7751 Yonge St., Claude Bitton’s property, two to three times a week. In addition, JUMP also hosts events off-site.

Some past events hosted by JUMP include:

  • Trip to Israel in December of 2007. Participants toured places in Israel, heard from Israel’s most inspirational speakers, and participated in activities that immersed them in Israeli society.
  • One year anniversary party hosted at the Steam Whistle Brewing in downtown Toronto on January 31, 2009. This event featured live entertainment as well as a silent auction. Over $6000 and 600 volunteer hours were raised through the silent auction. The money and time will be invested in non-profit organizations city wide.
  • JUMP's second annual Mimouna was hosted at 7751 Yonge St., Claude Bitton's property, on Sunday, April 19th, 2009. This was a Moroccan style party to celebrate the end of Passover. It included Moroccan food, customs and music.
  • Holocaust Remembrance Day dinner and discussion was held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the JUMP Centre at 7751 Yonge St., Claude Bitton’s property.

A future event planned by JUMP is a Shabbaton in Niagara Falls. This event will be held at the Falls Plaza hotel between June 12 and June 14, 2009. The trip will include two nights accommodation and all meals (kosher), interactive discussions on various Jewish topics, Saturday night out and Sunday activity at the Niagara Falls Sportsplex.

In addition to periodic events, JUMP holds regular programs at their 7751 Yonge St. centre, Claude Bitton’s property. Some of the activities offered include Hebrew classes, cooking classes, yoga classes, dinner and discussions, Shabbat dinners, speaker series, book club and various workshops.

The JUMP centre, located at 7751 Yonge St., a property owned by Claude Bitton, is a place that was established for the purpose of encouraging the social, spiritual and intellectual growth of Jewish students and young professionals. It is due to Claude Bitton’s philanthropy that JUMP was able to find the right place for their community activities and growth.
